The TrigRuler - See How Trig Works!

The traditional approach used to teach trigonometry, as well as many other areas of mathematics, can leave some students feeling a lack of confidence in their fundamental grasp of the subject. Despite the best efforts of many excellent teachers, this is often due to classroom and textbook reliance on memorization, rather than hands-on learning.

The TrigWorks approach to learning through the use of the TrigRuler, shifts the emphasis from memorization to physically doing the work to enable students to see how Trig works.

Many more Middle School and High School students will enjoy their first exposure to Trigonometry using the TrigRuler. With the advantage of a solid foundation in trig, these students will more likely continue their pursuit of higher mathematics throughout their education. College students that had difficult experiences with trigonometry in their early school career will have an easier time using the TrigRuler to learn trigonometry during their freshmen or sophomore years. And it is never too late to learn trigonometry for anyone - adults that never grasped trig during their school days will find it easy to understand by using the TrigRuler. Students being home-schooled and parents needing to help their children learn Trig will find the TrigRuler to be a real enhancement to their learning process.

There are numerous books and websites devoted to the subject of Trigonometry. The TrigRuler does not replace these, but rather, the TrigRuler is to be used in conjunction with existing texts and other resources as an easier introduction to the subject by showing you how Trig works.

What educators and students are saying about the TrigRuler :

"The TrigRuler uses the students' intuitive understanding to illustrate trig basics, rather than relying on memorization."

"Using the TrigRuler helped me gain a sense for the difference between the Sine of 23 degrees and the Sine of 32 degrees which helped me a lot when I started using a calculator to do trig. Anyone could key in 23 by mistake when they needed 32 and they would never know the difference if all they ever used was a calculator to learn trig."

"Students grasped the basic ideas of trigonometry immediately when the subject was introduced using the TrigRuler ..."

“I wish I had a TrigRuler 20 years ago!”

“There are graphing calculators and software that do some of what the TrigRuler does, but there is no replacement for being able to work with your hands to learn something new. Start with the TrigRuler, then start using a calculator to do trig.”
